Chicago Bears 2006 Preview
The Chicago Bears had a great season in 2005. They finished 11-6 and went to the playoffs. Their one problem was scoring. Many in the media have touted the Bears as the NFC North champions. Are they correct? Let’s take a look at the 2006 Chicago Bears. Fortunately for them, their division is not that tough.

Indianapolis: The bad news for the Colts is that they lost key players RB Edgerrin James, PK Mike Vanderjagt, and some defensive talent to free agency, the good news is that they are a pass first team anyway which somewhat negates the loss of James and they were able to steal away PK Adam Vinatieri from the Patriots and the free agent hits the Colts took on the defensive side of the ball won’t hurt much because of the comparatively weak division that the Colts reside in.

Pittsburgh: The Steelers are still the creme of the crop in the AFC North having now won 31 of their last 38 contests and having been in the playoffs 4 of the past 5 years, however, they must guard against complacency after finally getting over the proverbial hump and winning HC Bill Cowher’s first Super Bowl.

Denver: These Bronco’s have been the most consistent team in the AFC West over the past three seasons as evidenced by their 34-18 straight up record over this time period and they have not had a losing season since 1999.

Angelina Jolie. The mere mention of her name makes most people think of a few words: beautiful, worldly, and above all admired. Yes, admired. Angelina seems to have completely reversed her reputation as a sultry goth chick with a penchant for knives, self inflicted pain, bisexuality and a questionable sex life, vials of blood and a preoccupation with thoughts of death. Now, Angelina is adored by millions, perhaps regarded with some skepticism and scrutiny by others, and by and large VERY followed.

Well it might be wise to start this column off by stating that it comes with a bias. I love the Atlantic Ocean and I would not move away from it in a million years. My bias comes from the first 22 years of my life living on the beaches of Santa Barbara over on the west coast.

A few months ago, a friend called to ask if I’d like to join her on a surfing lesson at Manly Beach in Sydney. Giving thought to my answer, two images flashed to mind.
